Boston Fleet Faces Changes Ahead of New Season
The Boston Fleet, now in its third season in the PWHL, kicked off its campaign against the Montral Victoire at the Tsongas Center. This year, the team will play only eight of its 30 games in Lowell, down from eleven last season, with four matches scheduled at Boston University's Agganis Arena. After a disappointing previous season, where they missed the playoffs with a 9-6-5-10 record, the Fleet has undergone significant changes, including the loss of star player Hilary Knight and several young talents due to league expansion. New head coach Kris Sparre, who brings extensive coaching experience, aims to revitalize the roster, which features twelve new players. Megan Keller has been appointed as the new captain, replacing Knight, and is expected to lead a team that combines experienced players with emerging talent. The Fleet is determined to establish a competitive identity, focusing on speed, physicality, and relentless play as they look to improve this season.
